Wayne State Helped Me Achieve My American Dream...
I owe a great deal to Wayne State University. WSU is where I completed my residency in urology when I first came to the United States. My entire family has been impacted by WSU. I met my wife Marjorie at Wayne State, who graduated from Wayne State Medical School. My two sons also graduated from Wayne State undergrad, and my eldest son recently graduated from Wayne Medical School. Both my wife and I have actively participated in the alumni association, of which my wife has served as co-chair. As an alum, I deeply care about the university, students, staff, and my fellow alumni. I understand how important strong leadership is in this role, and I am running to maximize what I can do to give back to my alma mater.

Wayne State University is a world-class educational institution at the heart of Detroit. If elected, I will work tirelessly to both preserve and expand that legacy.
PROTECTING OUR STUDENTS
Reporting abuse, harassment, and assault should be an easy and clear process. If elected, I will implement a centralized reporting system to ensure that all incidents that violate student safety can be easily reported and tracked. This will help make it easier for victims to come forward, and will also increase transparency to ensure that reported abuse cannot be ignored. Additionally, new student orientation will include mandatory consent training, and it will provide information about WSU's sexual assault and harassment policies.
As a small business owner, I understand the importance of educating students for in-demand jobs. If elected, I will use my business and organizing experience to expand opportunities for students to connect with local entrepreneurs, start-up companies, and minority-owned businesses. This partnership will provide invaluable training and networking opportunities for the students and will provide increased resources for participating businesses.
FOSTERING INQUIRY AND INNOVATION
I started my career as a research fellow at Wayne State, and that program helped me get to where I am today, the successful owner of my own urology center. I want to ensure that the opportunity that I received is available to all WSU students by continuing to invest in research and high quality programs.
DRIVING INNOVATION IN HEALTH CARE
There is a tremendous need for more specialty care doctors in both inner city and rural communities across the country. Wayne State can help fill this need through creating a program to provide specialized medicine training to family doctors, ensuring greater access to quality health care. If elected, I will help make this program a reality.
Wayne State currently participates in the Detroit Promise, providing unlimited four-year scholarships for Detroit students. This program is an amazing opportunity for young people in Detroit and should be expanded. Any student in good academic standing in Michigan should be able to attend WSU at an affordable rate. If elected, I will work to increase scholarships and lower tuition costs. Additionally, the ACT/SAT minimum score requirement for the Detroit Promise Scholarship leaves many students out. WSU should provide increased tutoring and training to inner city students who commit to attending WSU in order to ensure that they are college ready.
BUILDING FOR THE FUTURE
The City of Pontiac is currently undergoing rapid development. Now is the time to consider opening a new satellite campus in downtown Pontiac to help educate the next generation of leaders in the heart of Oakland County.
